SYNOPSIS

As a boy, Felipe Cusicanqui(34) fell asleep listening to the fantastic tales of his grandfather, a Bolivian chemist residing in Chile. In these stories, Felipe was a descendant of the Inca princes Atahualpa and Manco Capac.

Felipe Cusicanqui is also a promising painter who uses in his work all things that can be recycled: bags, newsprint, egg cartons, clay and wicker. Felipe sometimes dreams of his grandfather, he wants to fulfill a promise he made when he found out that most of the stories he had heard were real: to search for his origins and nobility in La Paz (Bolivia).

Felipe wants to go after those images, what is left of the tales. He does not know what he will find. What he does know is that sooner or later he must head to Bolivia to discover his grandfather's gift.

This is the story of a young Chilean artist who has always felt special because he is the heir of the royal Inca dynasty. However, until this moment, this fact has had no relation with real life.

Felipe has never been to Bolivia, the homeland of his ancestors, does not practice the indigenous cultures and traditions, and has a more northern European phenotype than South American. For many years now, Felipe has felt he has a big debt with his identity, and believes that a trip to the land of his ancestors may put things in place.

The time has come, and this film is the record of the preparation for that journey and the journey into the unknown and into his dreams while crossing the startling and marvelous landscape of the Andes highlands by train.

We will experience the clash between dreams and reality, and the vital changes that the trip will produce in Felipe and his work.

SYNOPSIS

After the war in Iraq, thousands of Palestinians have become refugees in no man’s land.

The faraway Republic of Chile has welcomed some of them to live in the small city of La Calera, as it did over 100 years ago with Palestinian immigrants escaping Ottoman oppression.

Today, like a century ago, the journey repeats itself...

Basem, a young Palestinan who arrived with his wife and young daughter, faces his new country full of enthusiasm, ingenuousness and hope, longing for a place to call home in an unknown, seductive and contradictory world, thousand of kilometers from his homeland.

In his new country, Basem recovers his trade as baker and sets up his own business. He hopes his efforts, together with the help of the big community of Palestinian descendants, will lead him to accomplish his dream: to bring his elderly parents, still trapped at the refugee camp, to live with him again, now in Chile.

It was designed for local, community TV, but it ended up being aired to the whole country on cable television.
